The Wickham Woods Neighborhood Association has tons of fun events and activities for both children and adults. When you are a member of the Association, you feel like part of a family where the fun never ends. We all look out for each other, share news and information via email and regularly see each other both at our WWNA sponsored events, and around the neighborhood. Once you are a member, you can pick and choose what events and activities are right for you and your family. Here is a sampling of what we do in case you are interested:
Family Events & Activities
Block Party: Usually the 3rd Saturday in September, it is our most well attended family event. We close off a few of our neighborhood streets, play tons of fun games, have bounce houses, lots of food and drinks, a DJ and tons of laughs. Easter Egg Hunt: Around Easter time, we fill hundreds of eggs with goodies and play a giant Easter Egg hunt for kids of all ages. Refreshments, bagels and munchkins are provided. Halloween Party: A magician, music, food and drinks make for a fantastic Halloween party for the kids. Every year Wickham Woods children gather together for pizza and fun before heading out to trick or treat. This is always a fantastic event and so much fun to see all of the children dressed up in costume. Ice Cream Social: The Association provides ice cream for everyone to celebrate the end of the school year and kickoff our summer festivities. Playgroup: We have a playgroup for toddlers and babies that meets once a week at members homes. This is a great way to meet other parents and children and make new friends. It is a smaller group and a very casual setting. Hosts rotate and are asked to provide coffee for the parents and a safe play environment for the kids. Pizza & Popsicle nights: Throughout the Spring & Summer neighbors gather at a host’s house for pizza and popsicles (typically Friday evenings). Children have a great time playing with each and parents get to socialize with one other while supervising their children. The hosts (typically two families) provide pizza and popsicles. Guests bring some wine/beer to share and an appetizer or dessert to share. We encourage each family who attends a pizza night to sign up to co-host a pizza night with another family– it’s only fair! Visit from Santa: Our local volunteer fire department brings Santa to our neighborhood and distributes gifts and candy to our families. |
Adult Events & Activities
Book Club: A neighborhood book club where members take turns hosting. This group typically meets about once a month and always has interesting and fun conversations about their books. Wine Night: Monthly wine parties where members take turns hosting and choose a theme for the night. The theme is always centered around the wine and guests bring all of the food and wine. New Family Welcome Party: This is usually in April and we have an adult cocktail party to welcome new families in a smaller group setting. Winter Cocktail Party: A cocktail party with food and dancing at an off-site location. Adult BYOB: We typically hold 2 events per year where the adults bring a beverage of their choice. Theme ideas: Chili cook-off, March Madness, Margarita Mixer, Garden Party, Tailgate, etc. Sip N' Stroll: Similar to a pub crawl, but we do it Wickham Woods Style. Members walk from house to house sampling food and beverages. |
